Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Nice striker Amine Gouiri, who has been hailed as the new Karim Benzema, according to media outlet Fichajes.
Just like Real Madrid striker Benzema, Amine Gouri is a Lyon academy graduate but who joined Nice in 2020.
The 22-year-old forward played every Ligue 1 and every Coupe de France game last season for Nice, scoring 12 goals and providing ten assists in 43 appearances.
Capable of playing up top or on the left flank, Gouiri has shown that he is quick, skilful and creative as well as a goal threat himself.
Premier League sides Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham are also interested in signing the 22 year old striker.
German side Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing the striker as a replacement for Erling Haaland who has joined Premier League side Manchester City.
Gouiri is a France U21 international and has scored 7 goals in 18 appearances for the France U21 side.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez recognises Amine Gouiri isn’t the finished product yet but wants to sign him now so he can develop under the guidance of Karim Benzema at Real Madrid.
Two years ago, Scottish club Celtic rejected the chance to sign the striker for £6million and according to reports, he’s now valued at around £30million.
Gouiri has previously addressed comparisons with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
He said last year: “I like Benzema. A lot of people say we have pretty much the same style of play …
“After that, yeah I like that because he’s a really great player. But, each has its own path. He made his own. Now it’s up to me to do mine.”
It has been an excellent campaign for someone so young and it’s no surprise to see the Spanish and European champions Real Madrid trying to secure his signature.
If Gouiri can develop and become as good as Benzema, signing him for £30million will definitely be a bargain for Real Madrid.
Can Amine Gouiri become the new Benzema? Only time will tell.
