Spanish and European champions Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr to extend his contract with the club.
Vinicius’ current contract expires in 2024 and the club has now reached an agreement with the Brazilian forward to extend it until 2026, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Real Madrid hoped to convince the 21-year-old to sign a deal until 2028 but have had to settle for a shorter renewal.
Vinicius Jr new Real Madrid contract will have a release clause of €1billion, which has been dubbed the “anti-state clause” by the Spanish media.
The release clause is dubbed “anti-state clause” because it will be an attempt to deter clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle who are funded by the nations of Qatar and Saudi Arabia respectively from trying to sign him.
Vinicius Jr new Real Madrid contract will also see the Brazilian become one of the best players at Real Madrid.
Vinicius Jr is currently one of the lowest-paid members of the first team with a salary of around €3.5 million and Real Madrid have now rewarded him with a contract that reflects his status at the club.
He will reportedly earn around €10million per year after signing the new deal with Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old Brazilian forward enjoyed a breathtaking season for Carlo Ancelotti’s side as he scored 22 goals and provided 20 assists in 52 matches.
Vinicius Jr played a pivotal role as Los Blancos regained the Spanish La Liga this season with several games to spare.
He also played a key role as Madrid won the Champions League for a record 14th time, netting the only goal in the final against Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano also revealed an official announcement will be made by Madrid in July.
Vinicius joined from Flamengo in 2018 for around €46m and has already played 170 times for the club.
Vinicius’ only intention was to extend his stay at Santiago Bernabeu as he feels at home in the Spanish capital.
