Ahead of his presentation to the media on Monday, new Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger has been offered two shirt numbers by the club.
The German international has already signed a four year contract with Real Madrid after leaving Premier League side Chelsea as a free agent.
Rudiger will be the second new Real Madrid signing to be presented to the media after Aurelien Tchouameni who joined from Monaco for €100million.
According to Marca, Real Madrid has offered Rudiger two shirt numbers ahead of his presentation on Monday.
The German international has been told to choose between the No.12 shirt which was vacated by club legend Marcelo or the No.22 which has been vacated by Isco, who has left the club as a free agent.
Rudiger would have loved to wear the No.2 shirt he wore at Chelsea and with the German national team but that is currently been worn by Real Madrid right-back Carvajal.
So, Rudiger has to choose between wearing the No.12 or No.22 which both have the number 2 he wants.
Tcouaméni has done something similar. His wish was No.8, in the hands of Toni Kroos , so he opted for No.18.
In an interview with Marca, Rudiger admits he’s proud to be a Real Madrid player.
He said: “I’m very proud and I still don’t realise what this all means, because I haven’t even been to Madrid yet.
“I will go with all my family as soon as I finish with the German national team, and then I think I will finally realise what signing for Real Madrid means.”
The German international also revealed leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid is the biggest step of his career.
He added: “I think that in football, as in life, everything is a chapter, and this is a new chapter for me.
“Obviously, this new chapter is a big one because it’s a big step for me. It’s probably the biggest of my whole career.”
