French champions Paris Saint-Germain reportedly offered Vinicius Jr a mega-contract to prevent him from renewing his Real Madrid contract.
Vinicius Jr is currently one of the lowest earners at Real Madrid and his current Real Madrid contract expires in 2024.
The Brazilian, who was a key player for Real Madrid as the club won the La Liga and Champions League, currently earns €3.2m per season, which rises to €4m when bonuses are taken into account.
His current salary places him alongside the likes of Dani Ceballos, Jesus Vallejo and Andriy Lunin on the Real Madrid wage charts.
The Real Madrid board accept that his current terms are outdated and have already agreed terms on a new contract which will be signed next month.
PSG tried to stop Vinicius Jr from signing a new Real Madrid contract by offering the Brazilian forward a mega-contract worth €40million per season.
PSG’s offer is ten times Vinicius Junior’s current Real Madrid contract.
Real Madrid have agreed a new contract with Vinicius with the Brazilian to earn around €10million per year when the contract is signed next month.
PSG’s offer to Vinicius Jr is also four times the new contract the Brazilian has agreed with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez revealed on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito that Vinicius had received several offers but only contemplated to stay at the LaLiga Santander giants.
PSG reportedly first made their first move for Vinicius Jr a few summers ago and have been pushing hard to turn the head of the Brazilian forward since November 2021.
During talks with Vinicius Jr, PSG also offered the Brazilian a generous sign-on bonus, as well as a number of commercial opportunities in Qatar.
Despite the mega-contract offer from PSG, Vinicius Jr only wanted to remain at Real Madrid and informed Perez and general director Jose Angel Sanchez of PSG’s moves.
Premier League clubs Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United also wanted the Real Madrid star but the Brazilian always repeated to his agents, even when he experienced a drop in form, that he is not even willing to listen to other offers.
