Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly given Real Madrid the greenlight to sign Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling, according to transfer expert Ekrem Konur.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is interested in signing the 27 year old England international forward this summer.

Sterling’s contract at Etihad Stadium is due to expire next June and the England international wants to leave this summer in search of regular football.

Sterling is no longer a guaranteed starter at Manchester City and the 27 year old has opted against signing a new contract with the Premier League champions.

Sterling started just five of Manchester City’s 12 Champions League games season as they reached the semi-finals last season.

He started 23 of Manchester City’s 38 Premier League games last season, down five from the previous campaign and seven from the 2019/20 season.

Premier League side Chelsea are also interested in signing Sterling but have had a £21.4million bid for Sterling rejected by Manchester City.

Despite having just one year left on his contract, Manchester City reportedly want upwards of £55million for Sterling this summer.

Spanish rivals Barcelona and Italian champions AC Milan have also been credited with an interest for Sterling.

Sterling scored 13 goals and registered six assists in 30 Premier League appearances last season, while he contributed three goals and two assists in 12 Champions League outings.

The arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez plus £100million Jack Grealish looking to improve next season, could further limit Sterling’s playing time at Manchester City next season.

Real Madrid have already completed the signings of Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Chelsea and Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Ray Paulor believes Sterling would be a good signing for Real Madrid.

“I can see some players thinking about trying a different league, a different culture – I wouldn’t put it past Raheem thinking about that,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

“He’s got one year left on his contract and, it’s amazing, I thought Raheem must be 30-odd now – but he’s only 27!

“He’s in the prime of his life and career and he doesn’t play on a regular basis because Man City have got so many good players.

“So, yeah, what a move. Real Madrid have surprised everyone this year.

“I expected them to win LaLiga, but not the Champions League. To beat Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea, and you’d argue two of those teams are the best in the world at the moment, it’s an amazing season.

“Antonio Rudiger is going there as well, Real Madrid are really stepping it up now and Raheem Sterling would be a great signing for them.

“We forget he’s still only 27. He’s had a long career already, but I’m sure Pep Guardiola knows how important he is.

“He’s a big-game player and we saw that at the Euros for England.

“Everybody thought Sterling was not in great form, but he stepped up and was probably one of our best players in the tournament.

“So if he does move on, I’m sure he’d do a great job for Real Madrid if he went there.”
