Premier League side Chelsea are ready to submit a bid for Real Madrid defender Eder Militao, according to media outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The Premier League side are in need of centre-backs after losing Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid and Andreas Christensen to Barcelona.
The Blues are reportedly interested in signing Militao this summer and are now set to submit a bid for the Brazilian centre-back.
Chelsea believe Militao could be available this summer after Real Madrid signed Rudiger, with the Premier League believing Rudiger and David Alaba could be the preferred centre-back pairing for Real Madrid next season.
However, Real Madrid are not keen on letting Militao leave this summer after his impressive performances last season.
Los Blancos have also slapped a whopping €250million (£215m) asking price on the Brazil international, who has a contract until 2025.
Meanwhile, Militao believes his performances this season shows he’s worth the €50million spent on signing him from Porto in 2019.
When Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos left last summer, many feared that Real Madrid’s back line would suffer.
However, the partnership of Militao and David Alaba in the heart of the Real Madrid defence ensured the team remained one of La Liga’s most reliable defences on the way to a title triumph.
Militao also started every game as Real Madrid won the Champions League last season.
“When [Ramos and Varane] left, people stressed because they had made so much history at the club,” Militao told Marca on vacation in Ibiza.
“I thought that my time had come to do things well and show the fans, as well as the whole world, that they could also count on me.
“And I have put together great displays and shown why I am at Real Madrid.
“I have demonstrated [why he cost €50m]. Things did not go well when I arrived because I had two centre-backs ahead of me who had been together for a long time. Now I have shown the reason for my signing.”
