Real Madrid are now set to sign RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku for just €60million in the summer of 2023.

Nkunku emerged as a transfer target for Real Madrid after scoring 35 goals and providing 19 assists for RB Leipzig last season.

Real Madrid will be unable to sign the 24 year old France international forward this summer after he signed a new contract with RB Leipzig this week which expires in 2026.

However, the contract has a release clause of €60million which can be triggered in the summer of 2023.

Real Madrid are all set to trigger the €60million release clause next summer and president Florentino Perez is confident the club can beat competition from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Nkunku told RB Leipzig’s official website “I’m pleased to continue wearing the RB Leipzig shirt.

“After our great achievement in winning the DFB-Pokal, it remained clear that my story here isn’t over yet – we want more!

“I was really impressed with the club’s efforts to keep me, so a big thanks goes to those responsible for the trust in me and especially to Oliver Mintzlaff, with whom I was always in close contact.

“RB Leipzig have made a name for themselves on the international stage in recent years and have shown time and again that we can compete for titles.

“We want to build on that going forward and go one step further.”

Nkunku’s previous deal with Leipzig was due to expire in 2024, but those terms have now been extended.
