Mega-rich Premier League club Newcastle United are showing an interest in Spanish attacking midfielder Isco after his contract at Real Madrid expired.

Isco left Real Madrid this summer after nine years at the club following the expiration of his contract.

Isco was a regular during his early years at Real Madrid but his game time over the last few seasons slowly declined.

According to AS, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, who are one of the richest clubs in the world, are interested in signing former Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco on a free transfer this summer.

Isco is also understood to be attracting interest from Italian side AS Roma.

Isco is a serial winner who has won the La Liga title three times, the Copa del Rey once, and the UEFA Champions League on five occasions with Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Luka Modric has hailed Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as a two-in-one player.

Benzema scored 44 goals for Los Blancos last season – including a prolific 15 goals in 12 games Europe – helping Real Madrid to lift a treble of La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and the Champions League.

Luka Modric said as per Madrid Xtra: “Benzema? 9 and 10 in one, synergy of talent and power!

“One of the greatest I’ve played with. Of course he deserves the Ballon D’Or.

“Benzema is the top player with whom I enjoy playing since day one.

“When I got to know him better, he became even more dear to me. I’m happy for him, he deserves everything.”
