Luka Modric has hailed the qualities of new Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

Real Madrid paid French club Monaco €100million for the transfer of Aurelien Tchouameni this summer and Luka Modric admits he can’t wait to play with the France international.

Modric said, according to Madrid Xtra: “Tchouameni? He’s extremely physically powerful, but he’s also good on the ball, calm.

“He will bring us a lot of new energy and I can’t wait to play together.”

Real Madrid currently have Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Federico Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouameni and Dani Ceballos as central midfielders.

Modric believes competition is a good thing as it encourages a player to be better.

He added: “Competition at Real Madrid? I think that’s a good thing, it only encourages you to be better. It happens to me too, I improved in numbers this season! I feel great.”

Modric also talked about his relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Modric said: “Florentino Perez told me he was happy for me when I renewed.

“He is a funny man, he comes to visit us players before and after the games and he also jokes a lot. Our relationship is beautiful.”

Modric also admitted playing for Real Madrid gave him the opportunity to realise his dreams.

He added: “Real Madrid gave me all the best things.

“It gave me the opportunity to realize my dreams, win trophies, celebrate with millions fans around the world and enjoy playing with the greatest players.”
