Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has turned down the opportunity to sign Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, according to Marca.
Cristiano Ronaldo tried to return to Real Madrid last summer before he joined Manchester United but Perez wasn’t interested in bringing back the 37 year old forward.
Ronaldo is keen on leaving Manchester United this summer as he wants to play Champions League football but Real Madrid has closed the door to a possible return.
Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer with 451 goals in 438 appearances.
He scored 312 in LaLiga, 105 in the Champions League, 22 in the Copa del Rey, six in the Club World Cup, four in the Spanish Super Cup and two in the UEFA Super Cup.
Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 before leaving for Juventus in 2018.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti intends to use Eden Hazard as back-up striker to Karim Benzema next season.
Ancelotti is looking to reignite Hazard’s career by deploying him as the team’s centre forward in a false No 9 role when Karim Benzema is rested next season.
Benzema is approaching his 35th birthday and Ancelotti intends to manage the workload of the France international next season.
Benzema won’t play every game for Real Madrid next season and Ancelotti intends to play Hazard as the centre-forward next season when Benzema isn’t playing.
