Real Madrid centre-back Mario Gila has arrived in Rome ahead of his transfer to Italian club Lazio.
With the centre-back now in Rome, he is expected to undergo his medical at Lazio and could be announced as a Lazio player on Wednesday.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Real Madrid will receive €6million from Lazio for the transfer of 21 year old centre-back Mario Gila.
Mario Gila impressed with the Real Madrid Castilla squad and many are excited to see what he can do with regular first team football.
Gila joined the Real Madrid academy in 2018 and made swift progress at the club, becoming a pivotal figure for Real Madrid Castilla.
He made his first-team debut against Espanyol last season and made another appearance against Levante.
Lazio initially wanted to sign Mario Gila in a loan deal while reserving the option to sign him permanently from Real Madrid next year before opting to sign him permanently.
Gila has also agreed personal terms with Lazio and an announcement of the transfer is now imminent.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing PSG forward Mauro Icardi after missing out on Kylian Mbappe this summer.
According to media outlet Fichajes via The Hard Tackle, PSG no longer want the 29 year old Argentina striker and have now put him up for sale.
Mauro Icardi joined PSG from Inter Milan in 2019 in a season-long loan deal before making it permanent the following summer.
However, he has since fallen down the pecking order of things at Parc des Princes, especially in the last season following the arrival of Lionel Messi.
Real Madrid are interested in signing the 29 year old striker as a back-up for first-choice striker Karim Benzema.
Real Madrid desperately needs to sign a striker this summer as cover for Benzema with the likes of Mariano Diaz and Luka Jovic set to leave this summer.
While there has been talk of keeping Borja Mayoral at the club, the Spaniard continues to be linked with an exit amid serious interest from La Liga clubs.
With PSG keen on selling Icardi, signing the 29 year old striker could cost less than €30 million, which makes Icardi an economical option for Real Madrid.
However, considering the recent saga between Real Madrid and PSG over Mbappe, it’s yet to be seen if the French club would be willing to sell Mauri Icardi to Real Madrid.
Icardi played just 24 Ligue 1 matches last season, starting only ten of those games, scoring four goals in the process.
