As many as seven Atletico Madrid youngsters are keen on making the move to Real Madrid this summer, according to a report on ESPN.
The report claims as many as seven Atletico Madrid youngsters have contacted Real Madrid about switching sides since the unofficial “non-aggression pact” was broken this summer.
The non-aggression pact was a agreement between both clubs not to pursue each other’s academy players.
Real Madrid were unhappy with Atletico’s behaviour over various issues last season, including approaches for our own academy prospects, and as a result decided to bring the unwritten deal to an end.
After the pact was brought to an end this summer, Real Madrid signed promising 15 year old Atletico right-back Jesus Fortea.
Following Fortea’s move to Real Madrid this summer, as many as seven Atletico Madrid youngsters have now contacted Real Madrid about switching teams this summer.
Meanwhile, Luka Modric has hailed the qualities of new Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
Real Madrid paid French club Monaco €100million for the transfer of Aurelien Tchouameni this summer and Luka Modric admits he can’t wait to play with the France international.
Modric said: “Tchouameni? He’s extremely physically powerful, but he’s also good on the ball, calm.
“He will bring us a lot of new energy and I can’t wait to play together.”
Real Madrid currently have Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Federico Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouameni and Dani Ceballos as central midfielders.
Modric believes competition is a good thing as it encourages a player to be better.
He added: “Competition at Real Madrid? I think that’s a good thing, it only encourages you to be better. It happens to me too, I improved in numbers this season! I feel great.”
