Premier League side Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

The 26-year-old only has one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu and there has been no progress on him signing a new agreement.

Despite scoring 10 goals in 31 appearances for Real Madrid, Asensio isn’t considered to be a key player by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Asensio wants to leave Real Madrid this summer for a club that will guarantee him regular playing time in the starting XI.

According to media outlet AS, Newcastle United want Asensio to be the main player of their new project.

Real Madrid reportedly want just £25million for Asensio, a figure which has alerted plenty of possible suitors including Newcastle United.

Newcastle will likely be offering absolutely enormous wages to the Spain international, but won’t be able to offer Europa League football like Arsenal or Champions League football like AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Italian club Fiorentina have reached an agreement for the transfer of Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Jovic has agreed a two-year contract with Fiorentina with an option of another two years.

Real and Fiorentina were in talks over a loan deal for Jovic before both clubs reached an agreement for a permanent deal.

Real will receive no fee from Fiorentina for the transfer of Jovic but will have a 50 per cent sell-on. This means Real will get 50 per cent of the transfer fee should Fiorentina sell Jovic in future.
