Spain international Marco Asensio no longer wants to leave Real Madrid, according to a report on media outlet AS.

Asensio has just one year left on his contract with the La Liga and European champions and was previously keen on leaving the club this summer.

The Spain international was previously keen on leaving the club this summer as he wanted more game time but has now decided to stay at Real Madrid.

Asensio believes that the departures of Jovic, Isco and Bale will increase his chances of playing significant minutes, with Real Madrid not signing replacements for the three players.

Asensio and his agent Jorge Mendes do not expect a contract renewal from Real Madrid but are reportedly calm about the situation.

Asensio’s deal with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2023 and he was expected to leave the club this summer to get more game time with an eye on making the Spain World Cup squad.

The 26 year old now believes he can play more at Real Madrid next season and also potentially a contract extension with Real Madrid, which would be his priority.

Meanwhile, Premier League side Liverpool have no interest in signing Asensio this summer, according to Liverpool Echo.

The Spain international is out of contract at the Bernabeu next summer and has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.

Reports in Spain had claimed Liverpool want to sign the midfielder who could be available for a cut-price £25m, with Asensio said to be willing to take a pay-cut to enable a switch to Anfield.

However, sources close to Liverpool have told English media outlet Liverpool Echo that Jurgen Klopp’s side have no interest in signing the Real Madrid midfielder.

Liverpool are reportedly done with their transfer business for this summer with plans to sign a new midfielder on hold until 2023.
