Real Madrid are interested in signing 18 year old Brazilian striker Matheus Nascimento, according to media outlet AS.
Matheus Nascimento currently plays for Brazilian club Botafogo and has a release clause of €50million in his contract.
Botafogo owner John Textor has responded to Real Madrid’s interest in signing the striker by insisting he’s ready to do anything to keep the striker and stop him from joining Real Madrid.
“We are going to make him an offer that is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and that no boy has ever seen in Brazil,” Textor said as per AS.
The Botafogo owner is willing to offer the 18 year old striker a lucrative contract plus an opportunity to play on loan for three months each season in clubs he owns in Europe.
The Botafogo owner is also the owner of English club Crystal Palace and French club Lyon.
Textor added: “In addition to a very lucrative financial offer, we would offer him a contract to play on loan for three months each season in one of the clubs that I have in Europe so that the jump to European football is easier.”
Textor also admitted he will sell the young striker if he doesn’t commit to a long-term contract with the Brazilian club.
“As far as I know, the boy’s father has talked to at least a dozen teams,” admits Textor. “If we don’t manage to sign him to a long contract, I prefer to sell him soon.”
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen on signing the 18 year old Brazilian striker as he is seen as the long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.
Scouts at Real Madrid believe Matheus Nascimento has the potential to grow like Vinicius Junior.
Should Real Madrid secure the signing of Matheus Nascimento, the 18 year old striker will play for the club’s B team to acclimatise to European football. Real Madrid did the same with Vinicius Junior.
With the non-EU spots in the team currently occupied by Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Eder Militao, Matheus Nascimento will have to play in the B team until one of the slots become free.
