Real Madrid and Real Sociedad are close to reaching an agreement for the transfer of 21 year old winger Takefusa Kubo, according to Marca.
Real Madrid were reluctant to sell the winger and only wanted him to leave on loan but with Real Sociedad insisting on signing him on a permanent deal, the Spanish and European champions are now willing to let him leave permanently.
Takefusa Kubo will sign a five year contract with Real Sociedad, with the Basque club also agreeing to pay him the wages he earns at Real Madrid.
Kubo is reportedly keen on joining Real Sociedad over other clubs due to their offensive style of play and the chance to play in the Europa League.
Kubo had reportedly told Carlo Ancelotti that he won’t travel with the team for the pre-season tour of the USA due to the problem with the quota of non-EU nationals in the team.
Kubo can’t play for Real Madrid irrespective of how well he performs in pre-season due to Eder Militao, Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo occupying the three non-EU spots in the team.
It isn’t yet known if Real Madrid will include a buyback clause in the transfer of Kubo to Real Sociedad.
Kubo joined Real Madrid from Japanese club FC Tokyo in 2019 but has spent the last three years on four loan spells to Mallorca, Villarreal, Getafe and Mallorca again.
Real Sociedad are desperate to sign Kubo this summer with Mikel Oyarzabal recovering from a long-term injury and Adnan Januzaj departing as a free agent.
