According to SER Deportivos, as per Diario AS, La Liga side Celta Vigo have identified Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz as their main target to strengthen their attack this summer.

The report adds that Celta Vigo  were interested in former Los Blancos striker Borja Mayoral before his move to Getafe.

Celta have lost Thiago Galhardo and Nolito this summer, while Santi Mina is unlikely to be available as he faces jail time for sexual assault – appeal not withstanding.

So, the Galicia-based club have turned their attention to signing Mariano.

Mariano returned to Real Madrid from Lyon four seasons ago in a €21.5m deal, but has struggled for game time.

The only stumbling block to a possible move to Celta Vigo is Mariano’s high salary as he would have to take a paycut for the club to seal a deal for his exit.
