According to reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was interested in signing former Real Madrid midfielder Isco.
Speaking in his exclusive column for Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano revealed the Premier side made efforts to sign the player, but failed because the Spaniard was seen as indispensable by the Madrid hierarchy.
“I can reveal that Isco was on Pep Guardiola’s list at Manchester City more than three years ago. City considered this possibility but Isco was untouchable for Real Madrid at that time.”
This summer, there was only one destination though.
“However, there have been no negotiations this summer with Arsenal, Tottenham or any other English club – Sevilla have always led the race.”
Meanwhile, Isco recently joined Spanish rivals Sevilla as a free agent after leaving the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the last season.
