Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was asked about Marco Asensio’s future at the club after he failed to feature in the 2-1 victory over Almeria on Sunday night.

Asensio has just one year left on his Real Madrid contract and has been linked with several clubs.

“As long as Asensio is a Real Madrid player, he’s an important player,” Ancelotti answered when asked about Asensio.

“We have to wait and see what he decides,” the gaffer added.

Despite Ancelotti insisting Asensio is an important Real Madrid player, the Spanish international has not played a single minute of football in Real Madrid’s last four official games.

He played zero minutes vs Betis and Liverpool in the Champions League final last season. He also did not make an appearance in the UEFA Super Cup and against Almeria.
