Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year during the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Istanbul on Thursday 25 August.

Benzema has previously named 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season and has now added the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award to his individual collections after an impressive season for the club.

Benzema scored 15 goals in the Champions League to help Real Madrid win a record 14th Champions League trophy. It was Benzema’s 5th Real Madrid trophy since joining the club from Lyon in 2009.

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho won the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award last year.
