According to The Athletic, Spanish and European champions Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea right-back Reece James.

Real Madrid see the England international right-back as a long-term replacement for Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal.

However, The Athletic adds that Chelsea have now started contract talks with Reece James to secure his future amid interest from Real Madrid.

James’ current contract expires in 2025, but the Blues intend to extend that deal till 2027 – 2 more years.

The English right-back is considered world-class for his position and is valued at €60m, per Transfermarkt.
