Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal became the latest footballer to fall victim to a home robbery.
Three men armed with iron bars tried to attack his residence in Boadilla del Monte at 2 a.m. local time on Tuesday morning, but ‘they couldn’t because of the security system’.
This comes after former Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was attacked in his residence. The Gabonese international, who has just penned a two-year deal with Chelsea, suffered a broken jaw after being struck on the chin with an iron bar during a terrifying robbery at his family home.
Carvajal has called for protection for players following the recent attacks on football players in Spain.
Speaking to Sálvame, Carvajal said: “They tried to access the house and they couldn’t because of the security system. They were looking where they could access, but everything was closed. The security system did its job well.
“It was a big scare, but thank God we weren’t at home and nothing happened’ and that ‘it’s the first time this has happened to me and I hope it’s the last.
“The investigation is in the hands of the Civil Guard and hopefully they can find them as soon as possible.
“Football players are an easy target. They know when we play and when we don’t. Hopefully the State Security Bodies can lend us a hand in this regard, since we are clear targets for them [assailants].”
