Barcelona boss Xavi has warned Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti that his Barcelona team are closer to winning the league this season.

“This year we’re closer [to winning the league], I think so,” Xavi said as reported by El Chiringuito, to his Real Madrid counterpart Carlo Ancelotti. The two coaches met at an event yesterday.

Barcelona have dropped points only once this season, which came in the opening day fixture against Rayo Vallecano. Since then, they have gone on to win five back-to-back matches. Their most recent triumph came in the 3-0 ousting of Elche.

Real Madrid have had a perfect start to the season, winning all six La Liga games this season. Our most recent win came in the 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid.
