Former Real Madrid star Kaka has revealed his best memory of Real Madrid.
Kaka joined Real Madrid from AC Milan in the summer of 2009 for a then world record transfer fee of €67million, which was shattered two weeks later with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United for an estimated €94million.
However, injuries and lack of trust from former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho meant Kaka wasn’t able to consistently replicate his AC Milan form at Real Madrid.
Kaka made over 30 league appearances in each of his six seasons at San Siro, however in Spain he never once reached that figure in four campaigns.
When asked by Marca to reveal his best memory of Real Madrid, excluding winning the La Liga, Kaka responded:
“It may sound strange but I prefer the day that it was confirmed that I was leaving, because I spoke with Florentino and he told me that they saw me as a great professional who had done everything possible to achieve great results in Madrid, but the injuries and the few minutes that the coach gave me did not allow it.
“That was a great satisfaction because I felt that the doors of the club were open. That is why you will never hear me speak ill of Madrid or José Mourinho. In fact, when I met Florentino in the Champions League final in Paris this year, we embraced.”
