Real Madrid star Luka Modric will be out for between 8 and 10 days after returning from Croatia with muscle overload in the hip, according to Marca.

The Croatian internatioal played both matches for his national team during the break. Real Madrid hope he will be ready to play in El Clásico on 16 October.

Modric will miss the matches against Osasuna (2 October), Shakhtar Donetsk (5 October) and Getafe (8 October), and it is hoped that he will be able to play against Shakhtar on 11 October in order to be in the best possible condition for El Clásico against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid confirmed the injury to Modric on Wednesday. Test carried out on Modric revealed the midfielder is suffering from an overload in the hip.
