Ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has given an update on Eden Hazard’s position in the squad.

Ancelotti said: “Every player knows their situation. Each one asks me for explanations and I have to explain it to them.

“Eden hasn’t spoken to me because he knows what the situation is, that there are other players ahead. he has a lot of competition. Some play less than others. His situation is quite clear.”

Hazard has started just once for Real Madrid this season and recently declared he wants to play more.

“At Real Madrid, there have been difficult times because I want to play and I don’t play. But when I play, I play well. It’s a delicate situation because I want to play more. I know what I can do when I play,” Eden Hazard told Marca.
