Injury to key Real Madrid player more serious than expected

According to the reliable Mario Cortegana, Thibaut Courtois’s injury is more serious than it looked at first.

Courtois missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium after it was initially reported he will be back for Wednesday’s Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk.

However, Real Madrid’s plan with Courtois is to rest him until El Clasico against Barcelona on October 16th.

This season so far, Courtois has played nine games for Real Madrid, conceding six goals and keeping three clean sheets.
