Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has hit back at Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi for his comments about Real Madrid’s Champions League success last season.

Ancelotti insists he is surprised at Messi’s comments about Real Madrid not being deserved Champions League winners last season.

“Xavi and Messi said that not always the best team wins the Champions League? [Laughs]. We were surprised with that too,” Carlo Ancelotti said.

“Doesn’t the best team always win? I can’t have opinion on this. Playing good football is also about defending well. It’s easier to say that the Champions League is won by the best,” he added.
