Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he changed the position of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo against Shakhtar Donetsk to help the team’s attack.

Rodrygo scored one and assisted Vinicius Junior’s goal as Real Madrid beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1.

Ancelotti said: “It was important to try to make the group under control so that we can concentrate on La Liga business more easily.

“I changed Rodrygo’s position a little, to play more centrally, to try to make sure that Shakhtar’s centre-halves, who are good on the ball, didn’t have an easy time. 

“His change of position was an attacking one and the idea was to press Shakhtar more and to do so better.”
