Shakhtar Donetsk boss Igor Jovicevic has claimed Real Madrid won the Champions League last season only because of the brilliance of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Jovicevic also claimed Real Madrid don’t need to play well to win games as Carlo Ancelotti’s men are lethal.

Real Madrid take on Shakhtar Donetsk away at Warsaw on Tuesday and can secure qualification to the knock-out stage with a victory over the Ukrainian side.

Jovicevic said: “Real Madrid is a lethal team, they don’t need to play well to win. If it wasn’t for Courtois, they would hardly have won the Champions League last season.”
