Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has congratulated Karim Benzema after the striker won the 2022 Ballon d’Or.

Sharing a picture of himself alongside Benzema on Instagram following the announcement, Varane wrote: “Congratulations my bro! You deserve it. What a player!”

At 34, Benzema is the oldest Ballon d’Or winner since Stanley Matthews in 1956.

“Age is just a number for me,” Benzema said shortly after being named the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner.
