Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is known to prefer simple and clear tactical messages instead of talks full of tactical ideas and complex instructions.

According to Relevo, Ancelotti asked Real Madrid players to be compact to prevent Barcelona play playing between the lines.

The Italian tactician also asked Real Madrid duo Toni Kroos and Aurelien Tchouameni to keep a close eye on Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, a task the midfield pair carried out superbly. Neither of the two Barca players felt comfortable and they ended up stifled.

Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to return to the summit of the La Liga.
