Real Madrid and Chelsea are in a battle to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to London Evening Standard.

The 24 year old Brazilian midfielder has impressed since joining Newcastle United from Lyon in January for £40million. He has played a key role in helping the Magpies charge into the top four this season.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly keen on bringing the Brazilian midfielder to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer but Newcastle United ara unwilling to let him leave with Guimaraes having four years left on his contract.

Chelsea and Real will be both be aware Newcastle are ready to sit down with Guimaraes over a new contract and an increased £200,000-a-week deal.
