With club football set to shut down for the World Cup, one of Real Madrid’s biggest plan is to tie down the future of Marco Asensio.
Asensio’s future in Madrid looks uncertain, as the 26-year-old approaches the final months of his current deal.
Asensio had been worried about a lack of regular starting opportunities at Madrid, but Carlo Ancelotti has brought him back into the fold this season.
Ancelotti doesn’t want to lose Asensio, and reports claim he has played a key role in convincing the club to keep Asensio with a two and a half year deal on the table for the Spain international.
According to Mundo Deportivo, a final offer is set be made this month for Asensio.
Asensio has made 249 appearances for Real Madrid since signing for the club, with three La Liga and Champions League titles.
Speaking about Asensio’s contract situation, Carlo Ancelotti said last month: “We haven’t talked about the issue of Asensio’s contract. He has played little but when he does, he shows that he can do it.
“He has been decisive and he will have more minutes in the future, and after the World Cup we will talk about his contractual position.”
