Real Madrid spent €80 million to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco during the summer.

At just the age of 22, Tchouameni is proving to be a top player, and has said that he does not feel the pressure of playing for Real Madrid despite his €80m price tag.

“In my head, I am made for this,” Tchouameni said in an interview with L’Equipe.

“This is my destiny. That means I’ve worked hard, that I’ve made sure I got here. Now that I’m here, what do I do? I have to earn my starting spot, I have to perform well, I have to win titles. So, I’m not here to watch.”

The 22-year-old also spoke about his first steps into football at a very young age and how he developed his game in France.

“At 11-12 years old, when I started in Bordeaux, I would play the games without eating,” he said.

“Otherwise, I knew I was going to throw up because I was under a lot of pressure.

“When I started, I managed to do good things, but I lacked consistency. My agent told me: ‘You have to be good everywhere but, after a while, you have to excel in one area’.

“Ligue 1 is a very physical championship. I was tall, but still not strong enough. In the duels it was a bit complicated. I worked in the gym to withstand the blows. With the video we also realized that some of my qualities, such as ball recovery, could be developed much more.”
