Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was targeted by racist messages on social media, following a training incident where he injured teammate Christopher Nkunku.

The RB Leipzig attacker was caught late in a 50-50 challenge with Eduardo Camavinga which has subsequently ruled him out of the World Cup.

Following the abuse at Camavinga, Nkunku has chosen to show support to his international teammate Eduardo Camavinga.

“A thought to my teammate Eduardo Camavinga, who has been unfairly targeted. The World Cup should be a moment of harmony, not of decision,” said Nkunku in a social media post.

Though Nkunku won’t feature in France’s World Cup defence, he wished his teammates luck: “Thank you to all the staff and my teammates for their help. I will be your biggest supporter. Make us proud!”
