It’s a big blow for Karim Benzema as the Real Madrid striker is set to miss out on the World Cup.
Benzema has been ruled out of the World Cup, after suffering an injury during training on Saturday evening.
Examinations confirmed a tear in the player’s left thigh, and that means the 34-year-old may not continue in the World Cup which kicks off on Sunday.
Real Madrid fans are angry with the situation, with Benzema set to be out for a lengthy period.
Madrid have often struggled in the absence of the France international, and Los Blancos fans have slammed the club for not signing a backup striker – warning they must do so in January.
RMA_Jonnis said: “Real Madrid was a Benzema injury away from having the season ruined last year. If Perez doesn’t act in January with a need of striker then a trophyless season awaits, along with another Ancelotti sacking.”
AJ14 blasted: “Any sensible man would sign a backup striker but we’re run by perez unfortunately.”
Mikhaelll said: “To the people saying that it was “unreasonable and stupid” of Madrid fans to want a backup striker in august… where are you now?”
Yahya said: “It was very stupid from Real Madrid board not to provide a backup striker and relying only on Karim who’ll turn 35 soon and he clearly doesn’t seem fine since the beginning of the season due to his delayed preseason We need to move in January.”
