Report: France boss tries out Camavinga in strange position

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was called up to the France national team for the World Cup.

According to reports, France boss Didier Deschamps is trying out Camavinga in a strange position.

According to Footmercato, France have played a training match against Qatari club Al Gharafa. Didier Deschamps opted to use those players that didn’t feature in France opening game against Australia.

Eduardo Camavinga took part in the game and played an unusual role at left-back, in a match which was a closed door friendly.

Left-back Lucas Hernandez got off injured during France opener against Australia, and his brother Theo Hernandez is the coach’s only option for the position now, which means Deschamps may be needing a backup in the left-back position.

French international Matteo Guendouzi has claimed that Camavinga did well in his new role.

“Camavinga played a bit as LB, he was very good, even scored a wonderful goal,” Guendouzi claimed.

France won the game 4-0.
