Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo following his recent interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo had slammed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and also team-mates in that interview, which eventually led to Manchester United cutting ties with the 37-year-old.
Mikel has now slammed Ronaldo, claiming that he’s an arrogant player and that he prefers Lionel Messi to the former Real Madrid star.
“I’ve never been a Ronaldo fan really,” former Nigeria and Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has told Dubai Eye, via Goal.
“For me, when a player has so much ego, I don’t really get it. He’s never been one of my favourite players and that’s why I always go for Messi really.
“I mean, if someone comes out and gives such an interview [Ronaldo’s recent interview with Piers Morgan], what makes you think, if he signs for your club in January, he won’t do the same?”
Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Real Madrid, and reports claim he’s ready to take a pay cut. However, Real Madrid are reportedly not interested in a return for Ronaldo despite the recent injury to star striker Karim.
