Karim Benzema was ruled out of the World Cup, just before the start of the tournament.

France boss Didier Deschamps opted against picking up a replacement for the Real Madrid striker.

There were rumours that Benzema could be fit to return to the French squad after reportedly recovering from his injury quicker than expected.

However, Deschamps has shut down those rumours.

He said: “It’s not something I think about now. I spoke with Benzema after leaving. I have 24 players here and I’m thinking about them.

“I will let you speak, debate, and imagine, but I’m not going to comment on things that don’t concern our daily business.”

Meanwhile, Benzema could pick up his medal with his France teammates, if they pi m up honours at the World Cup.
