Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger had a good outing at the World Cup, but the 29-year-old was let down by his teammates as Germany were sent crashing from the World Cup in the group stage.

Germany left the World Cup after failing to qualify for the last 16. Their loss to Japan made a huge dent to their World Cup campaign.

German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger has hailed the Real Madrid star, and called him the only high-level defender in the German team.

“Germany only have one high-level defender and that’s Antonio Rudiger. The others are just Bundesliga quality,” Bastian Schweinsteiger told the media after the Costa Rica-Germany game, via Deutsche Welle.
