Liverpool are interested in signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid, according to a new report.

Asensio, who is nearing the end of his contract with Real Madrid, has caught the eye with his displays for Spain at the FIFA World Cup.

Bayern Munich and Juventus are said to be keen on signing the midfielder, who can also play on the wings, but Liverpool are now emerging as competitors for his signature.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool are long-term admirers of Asensio and will make a move for him in January.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are hopeful of keeping the 26-year-old beyond this season.
