Real Madrid star Rodrygo failed to score his penalty, as Brazil were sent packing from the World Cup in the quarter-final stage.

After a 1-1 draw with Croatia in extra time, the game went into penalty shootout, and Croatia won the shootout.

Rodrygo was emotional after the game, and was comforted by Neymar who shared a screenshot of their conversation on instagram.

Their conversation goes thus:

Neymar: “I’m here to say that you are a star… It’s an honour to be part of your career, to hear you say that I’m your idol and to see you become one of the stars in the history of Brazil! Only those who take penalties miss them, I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career and I learned from them all.

“But I never gave up, I always looked to better and to perfect myself in everything. I like you not because of the player you are but because of the good guy you are and the kind heart you have.

“Stay firm, the criticism and the pressure will make you stronger and you will remember what I told you: ‘you’re still going to bring a cup to Brazil’.

“I wish you all the success in the world, disconnect for a few days, rest and come back with everything you have. I’m here for whatever you may need me, for real. We’re together.”

Rodrygo: “Thank you for everything from the heart, my idol! Sorry for anything and for postponing your dream too, I hope you continue so we can conquer together, of course, it will be the best for you!! We’re always together and thank you for the love.”
