Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo was in tears after Portugal’s exit from the World Cup.

Morocco dumped Portugal in the quarter-final, and Ronaldo came on from the bench in the second half just as in the game against Switzerland.

Following Portugal’s exit from the World Cup, Ronaldo’s girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez said: “Today, your friend and coach Santos chose wrong.

“This friend of yours, for whom you have so many words of admiration and respect. The same person who subbed you on saw how you changed the game but it was too late.

“You can’t overestimate the best footballer in the world, his precious striking power. But neither can you stand up for someone who doesn’t deserve you.

“Life gives us lessons. We haven’t lost today – we’ve learnt. We love you.”
