Luka Modric did well captain his team to the semi-final of the World Cup, but lost to a very superior Argentina side.

Argentina defeated Croatia 3-0 in the World Cup semi-final, to end Modric’s hope of winning the World Cup.

Modric had a good tournament in Qatar, and would be targeting the bronze medal in the third place play-off.

After their defeat to Argentina, former Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria was spotted hugging Luka Modric and consoling the Croatia skipper, who seemed to be a bit downcast.

Both players were teammates at Real Madrid before Di Maria left to join Manchester United in 2014. Di Maria currently plays for Juventus.
