Real Madrid paid €75m to sign James Rodriguez from Monaco in 2014 just after he had a fantastic World Cup with Colombia that summer.

Rodriguez was the rave of the moment at the time, and also impressed during his time at the Los Blancos.

Rodriguez was a Real Madrid player for six years, but the latter part of his career tailed off.

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has admitted he’d have loved to see James Rodriguez rather play for Barcelona.

“James [Rodriguez] is capable of scoring tremendous goals from short and long distances, he has a privileged left foot,” Xavi said on La Liga Kings of World series.

“It is a pity that he played for Real Madrid and not for Barcelona.”

The Colombian scored 37 goals and 47 assists in 125 games before leaving the Santiago Bernabeu. The 31-year-old currently plays for Olympiacos in Greece.
