France are set for a historic World Cup final clash, as the Les Bleus have the opportunity to win the trophy for the second time in a row.
The French squad have two Real Madrid players in it – Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga. Karim Benzema is also still a registered member of the squad.
Benzema left the French camp due to injury, and no player was called up to replace him.
Ahead of Sunday’s crucial final between France and Argentina, reports have it that Karim Benzema was one of the French players invited by France president Emmanuel Macron to attend the World Cup final.
According to Le Parisien, the Real Madrid striker has refused the invitation from the president.
Meanwhile, the report also claims that N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba and Presnel Kimpembe, who were omitted from the squad due to injuries, all accepted the invitation from the president.
Benzema however is certain of having a medal, gold or silver, as he’s still a registered member of the squad.
