Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has decided to cut ties with his France teammates.
Benzema recently announced his international retirement, after failing to feature in the World Cup due to injury.
Days after leaving the squad in Qatar, L’Équipe reported that some of his France teammates had felt liberated by his departure.
The French newspaper also reported that there was a bad relationship between France head coach Didier Deschamps and the striker.
Benzema was said to be keen on staying in Doha and recover if France goes far into the tournament, but the coach didn’t want him to.
Following France inability to win the World Cup, Benzema has stopped following many of his former teammates on social media.
Of all the members of the France squad who travelled to Qatar, only Eduardo Camavinga, Marcus Thuram, Aurelien Tchouaméni, Kylian Mbappé and Raphael Varane have been spared, as Benzema went on an unfollow spree.
