Since winning the World Cup with Argentina, Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has been  hailed by many as the greatest of all time.

Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo has competed for that honour with Messi for over a decade, but many believe the debate is over after Messi’s World Cup success.

However, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti thinks otherwise.

According to Ancelotti, Messi isn’t the greatest.

Ancelotti said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo: “It’s hard to say. He’s a great footballer. He has had a spectacular career but I don’t know if he is the best in history because every era had very important players.

“These words won’t come out of my mouth, I won’t say he is the best.

“I have enjoyed all players, and now I have a Ballon d’Or winner each day beside me (Karim Benzema). I have seen Maradona and Cruyff and I enjoyed their game.”
