According to reports, Atletico Madrid have sent a letter of caution to Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, informing him that if he doesn’t apologise for his attitude towards the club, his plaque at the Wanda Metropolitana will be removed.

Courtois featured for Atletico Madrid for three years and was a fan favourite there before eventually moving to Chelsea.

Courtois hurt Atletico Madrid fans before facing Liverpool in the Champions League final last year, as he said he’s “on the good side of history now” – indicating that Real Madrid are superior to Atletico who lost out when they reached the Champions League final.

This statement clearly offended the Atletico fans and the board. And less than a year after, they are still seeking an apology.

Reports have it that Courtois has no intention of apologising, and doesn’t feel any need to. Moreso, it won’t be the first time they defile plaque.
